New Glasgow Regional Police charge man with aggravated assault in New Glasgow

New Glasgow Regional Police has charged a man with aggravated assault in New Glasgow.

On August 23, at 2:30 a.m., New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a report of a stabbing that occurred at a local business on East River Road. NGRP investigation revealed that two adult males were involved in an altercation when one man assaulted the other with a knife.

The suspect fled the area upon police arrival.

A 46-year-old victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was later released from the Aberdeen Hospital.

On the same day, August 23, at 10:27a.m., New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit arrested 37-year-old James Michael Murchison and charged him with:

Aggravated Assault

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Nova Scotia Provincial Court in Pictou on Monday August 25, 2025.

The investigation by New Glasgow Regional Police and The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Fornesic Identification Service continues.
