Woman Arrested For DUI and an Outstanding Warrant After Single Vehicle Crash.

A 35-year-old Ostrea Lake woman is facing impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle crash in Ostrea Lake on Monday evening.

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, EHS and fire services responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Cross Road near Ostrea Lake Road at approximately 7:20 p.m. on July 6.

Police say the vehicle’s two occupants were driven by a passerby to a nearby home to drop off a dog before returning to the crash scene. Neither woman was injured.

One of the women identified herself as the driver and told officers she had accidentally driven the Kia Forte off the road. While speaking with her, officers observed signs of impairment.

The 35-year-old driver was arrested for impaired driving and on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court. She was taken to the Cole Harbour RCMP detachment, where she provided two breath samples that each registered 90 mg%.

She was later released and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.

RCMP reminds motorists to plan a safe ride if consuming alcohol or drugs and encourages the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
