54 Year Old Woman Arrested for DUI After Single Vehicle Crash.
A 54-year-old Middle Sackville woman is facing impaired driving charges following a single-vehicle crash in Lewis Lake.
RCMP officers responded to the crash on St. Margarets Bay Road at about 6:15 p.m. on July 1 and found a Nissan Rogue off the roadway and the woman in a ditch. Officers helped her out and observed signs of impairment. Police believe she was the only person in the vehicle.
The woman was arrested and taken to the Tantallon RCMP detachment, where she provided breath samples of 140 mg% and 150 mg%, nearly twice the legal limit.
She was released and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.
RCMP remind motorists that impaired driving remains a leading cause of serious injuries and deaths on Nova Scotia roads and urge drivers to plan a safe ride home and report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
